Happy birthday, Twitter. The popular micro-blogging site is celebrating the 5th birthday since its first tweet by launching a new website www.discover.twitter.com

According to the Twitter blog, the service’s users send more than 140 million Tweets a day, which adds up to a billion Tweets ever eight days. To put that in perspective, it took three years, two months, and one day to reach the first billion tweets. It took Twitter about 18 months to sign up the first 500,000 accounts, but the company now sees that many being created every day.
